My prayer for tonight based off Psalm 34.

Dear God,

As we gather before You tonight, we are overwhelmed by the immense love and faithfulness You have shown us.

We find comfort in Your presence, knowing that You are always near to those who are hurting and that You listen to our prayers.

God, we want to express our gratitude for Your constant goodness and mercy that surrounds us each day.

You are our safe haven, our source of strength, and the One who brings us comfort and peace.

We thank You for the gift of this day and for the many blessings You have showered upon us. We acknowledge that everything we have comes from Your loving hand.

As we prepare to rest, we ask for Your protection. Please shield us from any harm or danger, both the visible and the hidden.

Guard our minds and hearts against fear, doubt, and worry. Help us to have faith in Your sovereignty, knowing that You are in control of all things.

Bless our dreams with hope and assurance, reminding us of Your unwavering promises.

Father, teach us to turn to You in times of trouble. Remind us that You are close to those who are hurting and that You save those who feel broken inside.

When we face challenges and difficulties, grant us the wisdom to seek Your guidance, knowing that You are our refuge and the One who rescues us.

Strengthen our faith so that we may walk in Your ways and find comfort in Your presence.

We lift up those who are suffering tonight, God. Please bring healing to the sick, comfort to the grieving, and provision to the needy.

May Your love and compassion flow through us, so that we can be instruments of Your peace in this world.

Guide us in showing kindness and empathy to those around us, so that they may experience Your love through our actions.

Lastly, we give thanks for Your goodness and faithfulness.

We declare, with grateful hearts, that You deserve all our praise and adoration.

May our lives be a testament to Your grace and mercy, shining Your light in the midst of darkness.

In the days of Noah, Genesis 6:5 tells us, “God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” We read in Genesis 6:11 that “the earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.” Our world today feels eerily reminiscent of this doesn’t it? Five people were killed and several others wounded by a masked man shooting randomly in the streets of Philadelphia—one person killed was just 15 years old. Three dead and eight injured in a Fort Worth parking lot on Monday night. 300 people have been murdered in Chicago so far this year.

A culture of drugs, death, and darkness has taken over many communities in our large cities. Without respect for our laws—and most importantly, God’s laws—society as we know it will disintegrate. We are seeing the results of sin allowed to go unchecked. This is a heart problem. Yes, we need the right processes and laws surrounding gun ownership, but the only cure for the heart problem causing the rampant violence is Jesus Christ. He alone can heal and transform the human heart and mind.

As our nation has just commemorated our independence, we need to realize and declare our utter dependence upon Almighty God and turn to Him.
