Post-Election Day Thread: We thank the people of Austin for rejecting Proposition J. Austinites said loud and clear they want the Mayor and City Council to act without delay and comprehensively when needed to manage the impacts of growth.
The people who tried to stop Austin from meaningfully addressing flooding, affordability, and mobility are at it again. Kudos to @JimmyFlannigan for calling them out for their reckless fearmongering.

Thanksgiving THREAD: We're thankful for the wisdom of ATX voters! @PointAustin says it well: It was also gratifying to watch down-ballot voters acutely distinguish between substantive infrastructure bond propositions and the barely disguised Trojan Horses https://t.co/UbqBcKkhOM
If ATX is going to maintain & strengthen more representative, district-based government, it makes sense to build lines of trust between voters & their elected Councilmembers, rather than rely less on end-run ballot initiatives driven by paid petitioners & misleading sloganeering.
on top of dark monies to other campaigns, targeting the mayor for not doing one's bidding, funding props J & K, funding IndyAustin which deployed Pepe the Frog . . . this isn't the way we do politics in Austin. Doesn't reflect well on F1 or COTA. https://t.co/7NbyD3cP0J
Watch a paid canvasser trying to get signatures to overturn the #MLS stadium falsely claim the petition is actually to *bring* MLS to Austin...without realizing he was talking to MLS lobbyist @littlefieldmark https://t.co/uE0RoBIYjt
Prop J, which would have tied our city’s hands in addressing everything from our housing crisis to climate change to gentrification, failed despite proponents’ fearmongering and dishonesty. 2/
I have a suggestion to City of Austin council members: Stop running in fear of Fred Lewis, the ANC, and SOS. Tonight's results show that Austinites are ready to build a better Austin with you, and it's time to address our challenges head on.

The defeat of #PropJ and K were a sound rejection of the use corporate, dark money to buy laws through petition. We are heartened that Austin rejected Prop J’s attack on our local 10-1 government and the use of hate symbols by groups such as @IndyAustin2. #NoPropJ#DontTrumpATX

Looks like a pretty bad night for Fred Lewis and the Austin Neighborhoods Council. Prop J goes down. Prop K goes down. Morrison doesn't break 20%. Almanza trailing badly in D3. We'll see what happens in D8. So far only good news is Tovo's win in D9.
@thekc23 You should know that Prop J as written would require public votes on land development code changes to occur in November of odd years - very low turnout elections when few low income voters turnout, Prop J would effectively disenfranchiseing those neighborhoods.
Today's the day, Austin! If you haven't voted yet, make sure you get out there and vote NO to Prop J.
Say no to keeping Austin stuck in the past, say no to IndyAustin, and say no to an unsustainable future.
