The @RedLineParkway is at a pivotal moment, and it urgently needs your help. In 2016, when I first began exploring the completion of the 32-mile trail along the @CapMetroATX Red Line, one major step was essential. We are there now. 1/5
This is fun! Let's do I-35.
TxDOT is spending $8 billion to add 2 lanes to an existing highway. Daily traffic will go from 230k to 303k in 2045. So that's $108k per person.
Instead, we could buy each of those 73,000 people that were going to use I-35 their own helicopter!
@ElVerdeRican@JackCraver Something like this will be the best outcome for the 41st St. stitch. An added benefit is that we can have a local example that can be repeated for future highway projects.
Most great public infrastructure ideas that don't already exist here are super hard for many to understand.
@lilyhwilkerson I’d also wonder if the St. Paul decision to allow multifamily housing took into the consideration of Minneapolis residents/voters. I.e., for this case, could it have been easier to say to concerns from people in a different jurisdiction?
@lilyhwilkerson Not disagreeing, but it also true that the St. Paul lots were already larger (due to decades-old land use) and would be more able to continue to have large, multistory buildings as at least some of them have had for decades.
