Miguel in ATSV is the writers' insert for critics of Miles, and you can tell in that "I'll do my own thing" scene. His dialogue is so heavy handed in its choice of words you sit there and think "Hmmm, I wonder what they could possibly be referring to with this?"

He comes out with shit like "You're not even supposed to BE Spiderman" in reference to the whole canon event situation (which I bet was made up specifically for this), and he points out that Peter is the real Spiderman that Miles usurped because if Miles wasn't there, Spiderman would have lived, and Miles' answer is the mother of all 4th wall breaks. "People keep telling me how MY story is supposed to go! Nah. I'mma do my own thing".

It genuinely wouldn't surprise me if the whole canon event thing is as contrived and stupid as it is because they invented it just so they could have that scene
