I have, in my 62 years on the planet, been a fan of all things Seattle and Washington State. I live here because I love it here. I’ve been lucky enough to persuade my man Marc to this way of thinking. I love our City and our mountains and our farmers and our rural parts. I am a proud descendant of farmers who moved west looking for a better life in the 1880’s. My Father Carl Clark imbued this in me.

I have been a Husky Fan, a Seattle Seahawks fan, a Mariners fan, a Storm Fan, a Sonics Fan, a Reign Fan, a Sounders fan, a Kraken and Torrent and a fan of every other team from the PNW (yes that includes Cougars and Beavers and Ducks when they don’t play the Huskies) from the moment I learned about each.

Never in my life did I imagine a day like today in Seattle. The City is packed with people from everywhere. We are celebrating all things soccer, each other and the glory that it all is. It is not lost on me that today is Juneteenth either it being an important and critical recognition and celebration. Absolutely glorious all of it. I count myself blessed and lucky to be here for this World celebration for everything that today is.

As you see from the national and FIFA news today, it hit differently here in Seattle today.
