Through the afternoon, cloud will break at times across southern parts, giving some brighter spells for Cheshire, Merseyside, southern Lancashire and Greater Manchester. Northern areas stay cloudier, with Cumbria most likely to remain dull.
This evening and tonight will be mostly cloudy. Some rain is possible across northern parts for a time, mainly Cumbria and perhaps north Lancashire, while low cloud, mist and murk move into coastal areas.
Temperatures will reach 18C to 22C for many, locally 23C in Cheshire, but nearer 15C to 17C around the Cumbrian hills and exposed coasts. Light to moderate westerly or north-westerly winds, fresher by the sea.
