@Bitcoin_Teddy People making $184,000 pay a total SS and Medicare tax of 7.65%, or ~$14,000
People making $1,000,000 pay effective rate of 3.31, or $33,000.
The latter $19,000 more per year.
BOTH would receive the same benefit.
@MikeLevin A sitting US Congressman (and Duke alum 😢) thinks “freedom of the press” attends to an individual member, but not the news organization that employs them?
We’re so screwed.
@Heartsease@SenWhitehouse All noble goals, sure.
But the act of voting, and have that vote tallied, is an individual right. The government should have no interest in the effect of that vote.
What do you say about White candidates running in predominantly black congressional districts?
@RepCDMenefee Communities don’t vote.
Individual citizens vote.
Communities have no rights
Individuals have rights.
No individual is being denied the right to vote.
@IiiCraighead@bluestarberry1@MarkWarner They did, legislatively and by referendum. But next step was to hold legislators accountable for their vote by election. Since votes had already been cast in this election, they needed to wait until the next election.
