Whilst technically correct this is spectacularly and deliberately misleading. The missing context is that these fiat currencies are following the same trajectory as all that died before. Gold has never lost its intrinsic value.

I've said it before, but one fact that never ceases to astound me is that 100% of all currency regimes that have survived have been fiat currencies. And 100% of all gold-based currencies have come to an end.
