It is hard to convey who Peter was and the impact he had on us, but this tribute makes a heartfelt attempt to do so.
As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the exceptional leader he was and the fulfilling life he lived, touching the lives of so many along the way
R.I P Peter.
IN THE MEMORY OF PETER KAMALINGIN B.L:
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Peter Kamalingin B.L., a beloved leader, colleague, mentor, and friend.
As the Country Director of @OxfaminUganda from 2012 to 2018, Peter led with courage and humility. He empowered all those around him, consistently encouraging staff and partners to speak truth to power and challenge the status quo in the pursuit of a just and inclusive society.
Peter led not from ABOVE but AMONG us!!

Today, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting the passionate and skilled media and communications team from @OxfaminUganda for a hands-on session with our AWYAD communications team.
Through the session, we explored practical tips and strategies to better tell our stories, amplify the voices of the communities we serve, and make the incredible work of AWYAD more visible and impactful.
A heartfelt thank you to @DorahNtunga and @MazirweSarah for generously sharing your time, knowledge, and experience. Your guidance reminded us that effective communication is not just about sharing updates — it's about connecting with people, inspiring change, and staying true to our mission.
Our team left the room #energized, #equipped, and #inspired to do more — and to do it better. We are ready to put your teachings into action and bring our stories to life in ways that truly resonate.
Together, we can shape narratives that matter.

We have been robbed of not just a great life, but also a future filled with dreams and determination for the nation, forever silenced by cruelty. Rest in Peace our 🏆 champion.
Meeting and writing a story on this group of boda bodas who aren't afraid to share their journeys of unlearning, challenging their egos, and admitting life is better when they collaborate fairly with women, including sharing care work, was incredible.
It was an honour to have @OxfaminAfrica Director @FatiHassane & other colleagues visit our work in 🇺🇬 like the group of boda bodas challenging patriarchy.

There are a number of men like mine who actually happily take on and share dometic & #UnPaidCareWork with so much ease. They put "its a woman's job" to shame. We are calling for more of this. #FreeWomensHands#ShareCareWork
Findings from the report indicates that girls spent on average 4.8 hours, and boys 3.8hrs on #UnpaidCareWork. This gap increases as they get older. #FreeWomensHands#ShareCareWork

So rooted are gender roles in terms of domestic & #UnpaidCareWork that most women dont bother asking for help even when they need it. "Its a womans role" they say. We say its not. #ShareCareWork#FreeWomensHands
Breaking it dwn fr 'Omuntu Wawansi' like me;This practice of saying she is a stay home mother shd stop. We run huge businesses at home doing domestic work. Women work just as much at home as others do in other paid jobs. Recognise #UnpaidCareWork#FreeWomensHands#ShareCareWork
To break down this #UnpaidCareWork, for omuntu wawansi like me, when you get a wife, you have found a companion not a slave to work #ShareCareWork just as you share other things. #FreeWomensHands
Lack of or limited attention to the distribution of the care work burden has negative implications to the economy and widens the gender gap. @RitaAciro from @uwonet We call for redistribution of the care work
