I've often wondered where the birth certificate claim, re Doris Speed and her 'real age' came from. I guess now we now.
It was from the Daily Star, 8 October 1983. Knew it would be from a ghastly newspaper.
This was brilliant. Doris Speed had been Annie on a different set in different times (1960-1983), but as soon as she got behind that bar she was the landlady again! Legend! 😍
@DorisSpeedFans Annie! This is beautiful - a sweeping conquest, delivered with such finesse! Ernest was right - the Armada wouldn't have lasted five minutes! 😃
Coronation Street - 30th May 1977. Annie tells Ernie that she has got the brewery to provide a lorry for the float, on the condition that she plays Queen Elizabeth I.
#OnThisDay in 1988: Doris returned to the Coronation Street studios five years after her retirement to accept a cheque from Barclays Bank as part of the ITV telethon fundraiser. #DorisSpeed

Jack and Annie Walker from #CoronationStreet feature on the cover of the TV Times (in black and white in some regions, owing to an industrial dispute) and viewers are asked to nominate their perfect pub landlady.
This was well deserved! Annie Walker was totally brilliant. Made me laugh, made me cross, made me sympathise, made me sad - the most fabulous #Corrie character ever in my opinion!
Minnie Caldwell Remembered: A Tribute to Margot Bryant - 4th February 1988. Doris talks about Victoria Wood’s As Seen on TV Coronation Street sketch. #DorisSpeed#VictoriaWood#CoronationStreet#Corrie
