@cas_rasen Agreed re Duckett and Latham. And Bethell doesn't look like scoring runs to me (and Stokes certainly doesn't). But, in any match/era, players gets out to bad shots (with technique exposed). I agree both batting sides are flawed, but the low team scores are on the pitch (imo).
@jimb0_12 I have never had much interest in T20 cricket, but I was at what I think was the first Old Trafford Roses T20 in 2003. I believe Yuvraj and Fleming opened for a strong YCCC. They were soon 20-odd for 5 and skittled for about 100!
@barneyronay Bowlers generally have to be more accurate: as they play a lot of short form cricket, they are programmed to have less margin of error. But, also, the amount of shots played means bowlers don't get into fourth, fifth, sixth spells -so less...soft ball, lower pace, less intent.
@MSG1808@127J_H I think Atkinson needs to be at his full pace to be effective; he's a fairly decent line bowler, but doesn't have elite level Test skills. It's therefore odd he seemingly isn't held account to the same fitness standards that Robinson was (if that's the issue with Robinson).
@MSG1808@127J_H They seem to like Atkinson, yet, as far as I can see, his pace drops just as markedly throughout a game and has similar issues maintaining fitness.
@WG_RumblePants On the one hand: A good toss to win and bowl first (some movement and uneven bounce). On the other: England's batsmen have all looked out of form and underprepared. (NZ have bowled well, especially with Henry off with back spasms.)
@Tagore1069@WG_RumblePants@cricket_badger Although he doesn't appear regularly these days (he is making a welcome appearance during the First Test), Vic Marks also. And, to a lesser extent, Simon Mann.
