Sofia University was honored to participate in today's @UNYouthAffairs event: "One World, One Game, One Goal: Football as a Catalyst for Youth Mental Health and Well-Being."
As the only university featured among the event's partner-led spotlight contributors, Sofia joined global leaders, policymakers, youth advocates, and international organizations in advancing conversations around youth mental health, emotional resilience, and the power of sport to strengthen communities.
This recognition reflects Sofia University's commitment to whole-person education, embodied learning, transpersonal psychology, and preparing leaders to create meaningful global impact.

"Happiness is a whole-person phenomenon."
In this video, Mark Jamieson, PhD, MBA — PhD in Transpersonal Psychology Alumnus at Sofia University — shares how happiness is experienced through emotions, the body, and beyond. He explains why transpersonal psychology's broad, unrestricted lens is uniquely suited to uncover what happiness researchers have long searched for: it doesn't close off any avenue of investigation, allowing a fuller picture of what it means to be truly happy.
Thank you, Dr. Jamieson, for sharing your insight and your journey at Sofia! 🙏

I captured our journey in a new essay: Exploring Languishing: What Ten Weeks of Leadership Reflection Revealed.
https://t.co/rX5GJE70sk
Where have you seen languishing show up in leadership-and what helps people reconnect with purpose and engagement?
What if the greatest leadership challenge today isn’t burnout but #languishing?
Over the past 10 weeks I explored this question with a leadership mastermind inspired by @AdamGrant’s work.
We discovered that languishing often hides behind competence
#futureofwork#leadership
while #flourishing can be intentionally cultivated through reflection, #flow, #mastery, #mindfulness, and #meaningfulwork.
One insight stayed with me:
Leadership isn’t just about managing people or projects. It’s about creating the conditions where people can #thrive.

Facing adversity at work, team members often turn to one another to make sense of a problem that feels uncomfortable and uncontrollable. When negative thoughts and emotions dominate this sensemaking process, it can prevent a team from identifying constructive solutions
Now there is a new measure of collective rumination in teams to asses dysfunctional team processes. Teams who score high on this measure score lower on team performance and teamwork engagement.
Collective rumination involves recursive discussions of the problem, speculation about causes, speculation about consequences, sharing negative thoughts and feelings, and mutual reinforcement of problem talk.

amber waves of brain/
When we think of waves, our minds might travel to the tranquility of ocean beaches. But brains also pulse with wave cycles.

Not surprised by the new finding from the lab of Ev Fedorenko (a former grad student) at MIT that with lower activity thresholds, many more areas of the brain are engaged by language than the classic textbook areas. Language is inherently integrative: information must be coordinated from speech perception, articulatory planning, long-term memory of the rules of language and the context shared by speaker and hearer, the semantic content being conveyed, and the speaker's intentions in the social context. https://t.co/kfNo8kcFQt
A new CRISPR-based approach can selectively destroy cancer cells, according to a recent UC Berkeley-coauthored study. The technique opens a new frontier for treating the mutations found in nearly half of all cancers—including some of the most difficult types.

Most work conversations are now being recorded by default. You should probably assume that everything you say at work is getting recorded from here on out.
What’s emerging is a new category of enterprise software, organized around voice instead of text.
The system of record today is structured data: CRM entries, tickets, docs. But the highest-value context lives in conversation: the nuance on a customer call, the real argument in a product review, the offhand comment in a leadership meeting that quietly changes the roadmap.
LLMs are uniquely good at taking that unstructured voice data and making it structured, searchable, and queryable. That’s a large enterprise opportunity, and we’re still early in understanding what the software layer looks like and who owns it.

New study of 111,646 women: GLP-1 use was linked to about 30% lower breast cancer incidence.
For scale, tamoxifen (the drug we prescribe to prevent it) runs about 38%, minus the endometrial cancer and clot risk.
Not proof yet, but looks very promising.
