3 types of Linebacker movement and when to use each one:
1. SHUFFLE
The Shuffle involves square shoulders and square hips.
It allows you to move with power, and it’s great for changing directions.
The downfall is that it’s SLOW.
Shuffle for as long as possible, until you need more speed.
2. SCRAPE
The Scrape involves square shoulders and TURNED hips.
It’s faster than the Shuffle, but less efficient when it comes to changing directions.
Transition to a Scrape when you need more SPEED than the Shuffle will allow.
3. SHOOT
The Shoot is an all-out sprint.
It’s the fastest type of movement, but the worst for changing directions.
Shoot the play once you’re SURE about where to go.
FINAL THOUGHT
Every Linebacker should master the Shuffle/Scrape/Shoot.
Efficient movements lead to big plays.
So far, there’s a lot of size at OL DL and Edge for the upcoming PSR Camp Series.
