@damoosmann Basically every ban should be reversed for names.
Your platform allowed it, you have the option to force a name change. Do that.
Why would you ever randomly ban without warning on the first infraction?
You're managing a video game, not trying to 'teach the chuds a lesson'.
@Sines_tra@LiberalD3mocrat@Monkioh I'm saying, if your argument is Tom was a chud, but he grew up, what exactly is the lesson here?
Ban Young Tom? I daresay if you ban young tom, you'd probably never get Old Tom.
@Sines_tra@Monkioh It's not a matter of leverage, its simply the terms of engagement Im happy with Maybe its a low ball, but its what I and a lot of other players put out
> could get banned for any online game the last 30 years
Absolutely not. Forced name change maybe. Ban? basically Unheard of
@Primordialmuk Like the only way you can justify this is with lawyer speak, the conversation very quickly becomes:
"You signed paper 3434 on clause #4554 it says X,y,z, therefore you lose everything, sorry".
@Primordialmuk No one is saying they shouldn't have rules or that there shouldn't be a forced rename.
But banning people without warning, due to a literal 'small text' contract clause is pretty vile especially when people didn't even log in with the chracters.
@Sines_tra@Monkioh The adult version of this is very simple:
Blizzard as a private organisation can ban anyone for any reason at any time.
I can simply post this and move on, they can accept or decline either way everyone is happy and the free market rolls on.
@TheInTheNowShow Banning without even a warning on a paid beta is punitive.
Surely this week this will be reversed/walked back and just converted into a forced rename?
Surely....
@Sines_tra@Monkioh They absolutely did not know that, nor was there any precedent of random bans without warnings or forced renames.
That's was so aggregious about this. It was completely without warning.
@Monkioh I guess that's the point. A joke between friends.
Your lucky, they didn't run a no context LLM over the old chat logs between friends and ban people without recourse... right?
You can see why that would be stupid no?
@hypothesizethat@caddy6661@DirtbagLeft1234@Asmongold He's not very good at his job if he's running an LLM over a production database and perma banning "handsome kneegrow" without warning.
If the name is inappropriate, just force a rename. To perma-ban paying customers from a beta is punitive.
@AwfulMcbad@CyberpunkDwarf I mean, at some level, Blizzard does own the game.
They can straight up say black people can't play it if they want, and probably get away with it, given enough hand-waving the details.
In that respect you're right.
@Scow21@Deezy2158@Pirat_Nation The other thing was it was a paid beta;
and most people ONLY paid for the beta access. No one actually likes blue eleves or whatever else shit that was sold.
@AwfulMcbad@CyberpunkDwarf Honestly, this whole banned over a character that I deleted smells like a GDPR or data retention policy violation.
I deleted it to delete it, not to have it sit on the servers.
@luciasimp777@King_Big_Balls@JacobLaney69 I've never joined Asmon's guild or even watch the guy.
I got banned for a character I didn't even log in on, and deleted in a few minutes after giggling to myself in private:
"Beachass Niqua"
