Do you know who else he would have defended if he had been asked to?
You lot.
Because that’s how it works. You don’t choose the cases, don’t choose the clients, don’t choose their crime or how bad they are. You don’t have to like or agree with them.
You just do the job.

One of the biggest floral spectacles in Cambridge has just come into blossom for the first time at St John’s College. Lining both sides of Limes Avenue are expanses of Narcissus Jet Fire and February Gold Daffodils intermixed with Chionodoxa Blue Giant flowers.
This new installation is the brainchild of Head Gardener David Austrin who with his team and volunteers from the college and the wider horticultural community of Cambridge, planted over 57,000 bulbs.
It took the whole month of November last year to plant the bulbs by hand - no machinery could be used due to the risk of damaging the roots of the lime trees that line the pathway. David tells me that there is a second surprise timed later in the spring and of course being perennials we can expect this gorgeous display for many years to come.
So if you missed the Thriplow Festival, take a walk along Queen’s Road where you can view the avenue of daffodils.
