It’s Colorado Gives Day! If you’d like to donate to a Colorado charity that supports our Douglas County students, public education and literacy, here are a few to consider

@LodoDenver YOU are the one who brings up the union, not us. You make a fool of yourself doing so and then criticizing us for responding.
Why would we talk about ourselves? We are not narcissists. Good parents want good schools for our kids so we focus on policies, leadership, funding, etc
Mike Peterson sold his DougCo home & notified the board he’ll be resigning. We encourage him to use this opportunity to prove he has a sense of ethics & abstain from voting to elect new BoE officers since he no longer has a vested interest in the district https://t.co/R0gvVswOds
@LodoDenver Why do you view teachers as adversaries? True parents want cooperative triads between themselves, their students, and their students’ teachers.
Only political hacks make divisive comments like yours and obsess over whether teachers choose to join their union
Then he voted for the less experienced and less knowledgeable nominees for pres & VP who happen to share his political views. His resignation is effective tomorrow.
Congratulations once again to the twice-elected Susan Meek and to our two newest board directors, Brad Geiger and Valerie Thompson. They were sworn in for 4-year terms tonight, and presented a calm, rational, cooperative presence on the board.
Unfortunately Mike Peterson used his last meeting to lash out at the community in an unbelievably hypocritical display of divisiveness, as he spoke about needing to end the divisiveness and partisanship
@ScottPe30094395 @LodoDenver You are absolutely correct Scott. Not a penny since 2017 and even that was to an independent expenditure committee the candidates knew nothing about until the postcards arrived in the mail (as is legally required)
@LodoDenver (4/4) 3. OF COURSE teachers will always support the candidates who support teachers and students and don’t accuse them of distributing porn to children. Maybe their union president even says “vote for these 3”. That does not make them “union candidates” 🤦🏼
@LodoDenver (3/) 2. But you didn’t even say “backed” like the article did. You said “union candidates” as if the union chose them and ran their campaign. We both know you’re pulling that implication out of your derrière. We have asked you for evidence to this claim and you cannot produce it
As many of you know, Kevin Leung abstained from voting to end the voucher scheme in 2017.
Mr Peterson already sent his last school age child to attend school in the Lewis Palmer School District rather than DCSD, so he is no longer a homeowner nor a parent in DCSD
(2) So we're obviously skeptical any time they claim to be concerned about parents rights. This diatribe is clearly nothing more than their usual anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric
Thank you, @dougcocoll for sharing this article
More on that closed door meeting here: https://t.co/Ftdx0zMJrs
We remember when Judi Reynolds and then-BoE pres Silverthorn double-teamed a 15yo high school student in a closed conference room without knowledge or consent of her parents, to intimidate and pressure her to cancel a student protest she had organized https://t.co/53IEBmN8tH
@RockyMtnRapscal Since pro public ed candidates won 100% of the seats in the 3 previous elections in 2015 2017 & 2019 after voters realized the “conservative” slates elected in 2009-13 were destroying our public schools, yes, handing the district back to them in 2021 was an anomaly
Thank you voters for putting students 1st & rejecting culture wars by electing Meek Geiger & Thompson to the BoE. Thank you for confirming 2021 was an anomaly driven by a pandemic & that the community does support safe, welcoming schools & equitable learning opps for all students
Thank you to all who volunteered, donated, and talked with your friends about this important election.
And a special thank you to these three incredible advocates for our students & schools for stepping up to run and serve our community. Congratulations Susan, Brad and Valerie!
@LodoDenver You can look at Tracer and see that all those donations are from individuals or our small donor committee, which is also funded entirely by individuals at no more than $50 donation per person. No union money at all.
