@culturaltutor Check out Winnipeg, Canada. Home to one of the largest urban forests in North America. Unfortunately, it's primarily elm, and is under threat from Dutch elm disease.
@jeope@TheIneptBirder I hate squash your lifers, but I had Virginia rail running around my backyard, practically following me around. I almost stepped on it a couple of times. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting on that snowy owl...
So, in all my years of riding my bike, this was a first. This little numbskull flew into my bike wheel. I was doing only 20km/h, but the timing would have had to be perfect. It nearly made it.
It did eventually recoup and fly away, but I'm not holding out much hope.
@jeope It's funny, a few years ago, there was a pair that lived along the bike path near my house and I almost ran one over at least once a week while it tried to cross the path. Often, it was trying to get to the golf course.
And yet here I am, never having seen a snowy owl.
@ScottBilleck Rode my bike to work. Beautiful ride, and I wasn't the only one out there either! It's a little early this year, but it's not like we don't know how to handle it!
