a middle school teacher asked me for a prompt for an opinion presentation assignment. i suggested to ask the students: “what does the world need more of, why do we need it, and how do we get it?”

the winning answer was EMPATHY. we need it so we can listen to each other & put ourselves in each other’s shoes. we get it by asking deeper questions, listening more, and teaching it as a class in school.
