2 x 5 miles at marathon effort this morning. Instead of chasing a pace, I used ventilation to control the effort and kept VE between 100β110.
The result? About 6:25 pace. Honestly, slower than I wanted, especially in great weather. I felt like I was holding back and couldβve run quite a bit faster.
But thatβs part of this experiment. Train the physiology, let pace be the outcome. Iβm still learning exactly what my ventilation data means for marathon effort, and Iβd rather learn that now than force a number on the watch every workout.
More data. More learning. Keep building.

Hit 76 miles this week running, not to mention 53 miles on the bike, 4,000 yds swimming , and 3 strength sessions.
I freakin love the grind! This weather has me hype!

Sundays are for early morning miles and fellowship with the boys.
Spinning out the legs from that twanky yesterday.
Treadmill run incoming this afternoon to round out 76 miles this week!

20 miles in the bank.
Kept the focus on aerobic work and finished stronger without forcing the pace.
The coolest takeaway was seeing my pace get faster once I was running solo while my ventilation actually stayed lower and more controlled. More speed for the same aerobic cost. Thatβs the goal!

10x800m at 10K effort this morning. Settled right around 2:48 per rep (~5:35/mi) and stayed incredibly consistent all the way through.
Cool weather made a HUGE difference. Felt controlled, plenty left in the tank, and never needed to force the pace. Really encouraging session as the marathon build keeps rolling.
20 mile long run tomorrow morning!

3 x 4 miles at marathon effort with 1-mile floats. Controlled the effort by ventilation instead of chasing pace, staying around 100β110 VE.
Pace faded a little as fatigue built, but effort stayed exactly where I wanted it. 12 miles of quality, 17 total. Big step in the right direction.

Had a big marathon workout scheduled today, but woke up feeling a little under the weather. Swapped it for easy miles and some extra recovery.
One workout wonβt make the build, but forcing it at the wrong time can definitely hurt it. πββοΈ

Another solid week of training in the books. Canβt believe I only have 11 weeks!
Really tried leaning into the Tymewear vital pro, and staying in my correct zones. Excited to see where this takes me!

19 miles easy this morning. Averaged 8:36/mi, 122 HR, and 81 VE, keeping the overall effort right around/below VT1. Ran some with Chris!
Still learning that not every long run needs to be fast to be productive. Stack the aerobic volume, save the legs for the workouts that matter. π«πββοΈ
Tried the @EnervitSport gels and they were delicious! Thanks @justin_hamm901 for giving me a few!

6 x 1 mile at HM effort.
Instead of chasing a pace, I used my Tymewear ventilation data to keep the entire workout under VT2. Ended up averaging 5:57/mi for the reps and felt controlled throughout.
Learning to train the effort instead of forcing the pace. π
