Lost a lot of good people recently and the latest is Iain Ferguson, a highly accomplished former Daily Record journalist and latterly head of PR at Ayr Racecourse. Always a gentleman and extremely supportive towards me at the start of my career in Ayr. Thoughts with his family.

So many fond memories of Craig Brown CBE. Always a complete gentleman and made time for everyone. Set standards that made those he worked with not only better players but also better people. Deserves to be regarded as one of the great Scotland managers but also as a wonderful man

[Douglas Alexander @DougieSTSport]

My first job as a football reporter was covering St Mirren’s reserves for the Paisley Daily Express and they were managed then by Gordon McQueen, an extremely funny man as well as a towering player for Scotland. Thoughts with Gordon’s family and friends.

My choice for this award and a deserved winner of it. Hugely promising attacking right-back in the modern mould and his dad will keep his feet on the ground…

At the risk of being a goals Grinch, the standard of defending in the Premier League, given the money spent on players, does not suggest the coaching and scouting for that department is up to scratch…

What a great film Jaws is. Must have seen it over 100 times, yet never tire of watching it again. I know Spielberg went on to bigger budgets and made some fantastic films with that money but Jaws still stands up to anything he has done in the 48 years since it first came out
