I wondered about the author of this obit -- https://t.co/T6xebDERjZ #ClayRisen -- https://t.co/w84MgK37cK -- is a really versatile thinker, a top-notch writer and a native of just-down-the-road Nashville! Huzzah.
@JoJoFromJerz PPS: I would have been A #1 that year...except I heard that Tommy Knadler told the club pro (Jack Ryan) that Tommy planned to become a priest. I didn't have a shot after that.
@JoJoFromJerz PS: I started when I was 13. I rode my bike...or hitchhiked to the club. I was a really good caddie, too. The members ranked us -- A, B, C -- and recognized the top five A-class caddies. I was A #2 once.
@elizabethagan There are a few. E.g., substance abuse and sex. I'm a lot more concerned, however, with the topics about which we talk...but never (or rarely) take direct action. E.g., racial justice and white privilege.
@DGhabour You're welcome. Sid and Jim were partners...for awhile. And then, yes, I think Jim bought Sid's share. Before Sid, food options downtown pretty much meant cafeterias or greasy spoons.
@DGhabour Loved your piece on ANOTHER PLACE! Check your files, tho, for Sid Mansur. FWIW, he started it in the 1970s at Third & Market...then opened one on Bardstown Rd near Eastern Pky. Jim Goodwin and his son had a great run. But Sid was the founder.
@NewsQuip Yep. I once lived on the 900 block of East Washington Street. The street and its Bradford pears were breathtaking for a couple weeks a year. Otherwise...broken limbs falling on our cars and everywhere else. They're really a problems in our parks...which is why we see so few.
