One of my writing rooms is a 3/4-mile walk around a peninsula called Point Folly extending into Bantam Lake, Connecticut's largest natural lake. It's 5 minutes from home, inspirational in all seasons, a prime spot for viewing migrating ducks, and transcendent in the twilight.
Maybe not the sexiest color as autumn leaves go but it's perfect for handmade leather (or faux leather) cushions to go with my post-post-post modern club chair design that's currently poised at back-of-the-envelope-sketch status.
Someone asked me about the midcentury modern houses in Litchfield (a mini Harvard Five hotspot) and it reminded me of the story I wrote a few years ago for @MODERNmag online about the unheralded moderns in Pound Ridge (more per capita than New Canaan).
