Happy Half Term! We look forward to welcoming boarders back on Sunday 5th November, in readiness for the second half of term commencing at 8.30 am on Monday 6th November.
Well done to all who participated in our annual steeplechase event this afternoon. The top performer was Jonson (Third Form), who completed the course in under fifteen minutes! Thank you to Mr Jones for organising it, and to all the staff who marshalled or recorded times.
A huge thank you to Joe's Bows for a fantastic day of fun activities. From laser clay shooting and axe throwing to archery and falconry, our boarders had a memorable and brilliant time! This on-site activity was part of our new weekend activity programme for boarders.
As part of our European Day of Languages celebrations this week, the MFL department organised a QR code treasure hunt. Using their iPads, pupils had to scan QR codes hidden around the school to generate questions for them to answer about various cultures and languages.
Here's a shout-out to our Catering team, who produce a delicious range of dishes for our pupils and staff daily. Copies of our weekly menus for the Michaelmas Term can be found on our website here: https://t.co/7qc1j56JEq
The weather was perfect yesterday for the first boarders' activity of the school year. This weekend, it was a local one - a trip to nearby @EHdovercastle. Discovering the history of what they see daily from The Close gave them a different perspective on the town they now live in.
We know that starting a new school or a new phase of school life can be nerve-wracking. However, with so many friendly faces on hand to help, we are confident that our new and returning pupils will feel happy and settled in school in no time.
We are blessed with beautiful views from the College site, particularly on Top Ground, where one can see Dover Castle, The Port of Dover and Western Heights.
This summer, our programme of boarding house refurbishment has continued with St Martin's. In addition to new windows on the east and west sides of the building, all bedrooms have been newly painted, carpeted and furnished. We think the girls will be thrilled when they see it.
Prize Day 2023 has arrived, and the weather forecast is good! We can't wait to welcome pupils, their families and other friends of the College later on this morning to celebrate individual and collective achievement this year.

Boarders who have not been involved in end-of-year examinations have been enjoying a rich and varied week of lessons and activities. Yesterday, they had the chance to take in Dover from a different perspective when they travelled to the beautiful castle above the town.
Some of our international students took a short break under the beautiful blossom on Friday. Over the last week, they have been preparing for their English as a Second Language IGCSE.
Our Sixth Form Biologists had a very productive day on the dunes of Studland yesterday, observing psammosere - an ecological succession that began life on newly exposed coastal sand. They are returning to the College this evening, having had a brilliant field trip.
The blossom on the tree adjacent to Effingham Crescent is always a lovely reminder that we are midway through Spring. If you get a chance, take a look at it in the next few days: it is stunning.
As the evenings draw out and the weather improves, it is lovely to see our boarders making use of the beautiful campus. Thank you to Mr Bushell and Mrs Turner-Dauncey for the photographs.
