I have just learnt that Senator Cyrus Jirongo passed away last December in a motor accident. I was not aware that he had died.
This is very sad. Jirongo was a good and patriotic leader who served his country with dedication. We shall miss him. My condolences go to his family, relatives, friends and the people of Kenya. May his soul rest in peace.

There's a hill about Petr Cech that I am willing to die on. If he did not have that nasty head injury against Reading(2006) when Hunt rammed into his skull, he would have been the best goalkeeper ever.

He conceded only 15 goals in his first season at Chelsea. Kept 24 Cleansheets.
These Cleansheets weren't just due to Terry and Mourinho's pragmatism, they were down to Petr Cech. He seemed many times unbeatable.

I use to remember feeling that he was actually bigger than the goalposts. Every attempt was a save. Opponents were afraid to even shoot at the goal.

Petr Cech conceded only 2 goals outside the 18 yards that season. Only 2! That was peak Barclays when teams don't walk balls into the net. They were expert long range shooters in every team. Yet Cech conceded only 2 outside the box.

Petr Cech is my biggest goalkeeping case of what could have been. Check with the helmet was 10 times lesser than Cech without it. I watched both and the difference was day and night.

A Fundi can give you a very attractive conventional quote today. It looks cheaper, wins the job, and construction starts.

Then comes:

✅ Additional labour
✅ Material wastage
✅ Wizi
✅ “Boss cement imeisha…”

✅ “Hii hatukuwa tumeinclude kwa quote…” 😁

By the time the house is complete, that original “cheap” quotation is history.

A basic structure has 3 major components:

1️⃣ Foundation

Foundation cost is largely determined by terrain and soil profile.

The traditional method—quarry stones, excavation, murram, hardcore and backfilling—can become very expensive where:

* The land is sloping
* The foundation needs to be raised
* Soils are problematic

And in many cases, the final cost is difficult to predetermine.

Our composite raised foundation costs approximately Sh 4,300 per sqm, giving you a much more predictable cost while reducing soil-related surprises.

It also raises the house away from the ground, helping reduce issues associated with cold floors, ground moisture and efflorescence.

2️⃣ Walling

Traditional stone walling is labour-intensive, consumes more internal floor space and still requires mortar, curing and plastering.

Our precast walls cost approximately Sh 900 per linear metre.

During assembly we can incorporate:
✅ Windows
✅ Doors
✅ Electrical drops
✅ Plumbing routes

This eliminates several additional processes and reduces the number of Fundis handling the structure.

3️⃣ Roofing

For ordinary timber/mabati roofing, the roofing system remains largely standard regardless of the walling technology.

But where someone wants a concrete roof/slab, our composite slab system can reduce costs by approximately 30% compared with traditional concrete slab methods.

Then comes TIME.

By manufacturing components in advance and assembling them on site, labour requirements can be reduced by roughly 70%.

Less time on site means:

✅ Less material wastage and theft

So “alternative technology” does not simply mean cheaper materials.

10. Learn how to negotiate. I have written about it here several times. Negotiation is a survival skill.

11. Choose your friends carefully. The people around you can influence your ambitions, habits, standards, and decisions more than you realize.

12. Your reputation is an asset. It takes years to build and minutes to destroy.

13. Please, be disciplined. You can’t achieve much in life without discipline.

14. Your appearance matters a lot. Invest in it. Dress well and smell good. No matter what you are going through, don’t look like it.

15. Failure is bound to happen. If you must succeed in life, you must learn how to handle failure. There is nothing shameful about failing, but make sure you don’t make the same mistake twice.

16. In anything you do, don’t allow your money to finish. The world is incredibly unkind to poor men, so strive to make money and maintain some financial security.

17. Learn how to talk, when to keep quiet, and when to react or not. Learn to control your emotions; it will help you immensely in life.

18. Avoid any situation where only God will be your witness.

19. Please, read books. Read every single day of your life.
