Every walk through the Granville Pedestrian Zone leaves me proud of Vancouver.

The energy is contagious, with thousands enjoying live music, public art, local businesses, and the excitement of the FIFA World Cup.

Yesterday, Council voted to extend this successful pedestrian zone through Labour Day so even more people can experience downtown at its best.

This summer, we’ve partnered with the @CityofVancouver to transform Granville Street into a people-first corridor spanning five blocks from W Georgia Street to Davie Street.

The City of Vancouver is inviting you to share your feedback on your experience so far. Your input will help shape the long-term vision for the Granville Plan, as well as potential future pedestrian zones on Granville Street and across the city.

The survey takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete and will be open until Sunday, July 19, 2026.

God damn this tournament has Vancouver feeling like 2010 again.

Hopeful. Alive. Like the city remembers what it can be when we actually let people gather, celebrate, and believe in something bigger.

We had that momentum after the Olympics and we let too much of it slip away. This time, let’s not.

Sports bring people together. Big events bring cities to life. Vancouver has the bones, the beauty, and the people to be one of the great cities in the world.

Save the Caps. Back the MLB bid. More festivals. More patios. More reasons to be downtown and celebrate as a city.

Let’s stop governing Vancouver like it’s 1965 and start acting like the city we all know this place can become

Drivers will no longer be able to cross Granville Street at Smithe and Nelson, as these intersections have now been closed to all vehicle traffic due to crowd sizes in the Granville Street pedestrian zone.

Drivers will be diverted to Howe and Seymour. Expect delays in the area and choose alternate routes. If you are coming downtown, please consider taking transit.
