TRENDING: Nigeria lost its first-ever female neurosurgeon, Dr. Salamat Ahuoiza Aliu, to the U.S. where she retrained as a pediatric resident, and now works at a Children Clinic in Missouri. She was a Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital 🏥
In my opinion, There is zero upside in remaining in Nigeria as a medical doctor, except maybe you are doing it for the love of the game, you are leaving so much money on the table by not moving abroad particularly US/ Canada , their salary here be like blood money
All these consultants redoing their residency all over again, how do they even cope mentally? Just thinking of redoing med school in another country makes me go crazy.
I told them during NYSC that they was absolutely nothing I learnt there that I hope to ever use in my future practice. Because jungle medicine <<<<
If e reach your turn, go and use your NYSC to learn how to separate Siamese twins.
When Hilda Bassey came with that 2OK/plate of peppersoup. You people swore we were not the target market.
Same thing here, that hospital has a target market.
PRIVATE HOSPITALS ARE FOR PROFIT MAKING.
They are businesses!
If you want free or subsidized health care, head to the government-owned hospitals.
Your government has failed you by not providing you with good healthcare; direct your grievances to them.
In all of this discourse, I blame Med Twitter. Always eager to share diagnoses, prescriptions, and medical advice that should be paid for, all in the name of public health evangelism.
You give out so much unsolicited information that it has conditioned people to feel entitled.
You will think these hospitals don't have money to pay doctors 1 million plus till you find out that HR in the same hospital and finance people are going home with 1 million and more with corporate perks while you the clinical staff is labouring day in, day out, public holiday, Sundays, Christmas, whatever
Very very wicked country and people
There's no hidden diagnosis in Ortho
If a bone is broken, everybody can see it.
Not like other surgical specialties, cos why will an abdominal organ have a problem and you'll be having shoulder pain???
