There was nothing detached about my reaction — I was gutted by the images. I think people react to shock in various ways, and saying “he’s dead” as if almost having a conversation with himself is exactly the kind of thing that could happen if he was “rerunning the film” in his mind. This guy is a cameraman, not a coroner. He’s not “declaring” anything (to whom is he declaring?) — looks like shock to me, and the range of behavior in a condition of shock is quite wide (some people even laugh in some cases, even in the most gruesome situations). Ask some combat veterans what they think.

When I first saw video of his wound, I said “he’s dead” too. From my family room in Pennsylvania. It was obvious from low Earth orbit that it was very unlikely to be survivable. Is my certainty “anomalous” as well? Who in a state of shock is wondering about his verbalizations being “aligned with irrefutable evidence” in the midst of a violent situation like that. How is he “pronouncing” anything, and how much expertise does a “typical layperson” need before common understanding of how much blood can come gushing from the neck before the “inference” of certain death can be drawn. What if his head popped completely off? I’m pretty sure no advanced training would be required to conclude that he was beyond any real chance of survival. I will say that I don’t consider someone seeing that wound and concluding mortal injuries represents “anomalous certainty” whatsoever.

Illegal? Not if TdA is essentially a paramilitary arm of a hostile foreign government. How many fellow Americans need to die so your oh-so-fashionable sense of justice is appropriately puffed up? It’s your upside down and inside out sense of right and wrong which created the incentive for these people to target us.
