@michaelgaubrey Or perhaps they've read but not fully absorbed or understood it. I do sometimes wonder this when people say that noone today makes the mistakes Barr highlights or that a cognitive-linguistic approach makes his concerns irrelevant.

This also means that Christians should not be settled in the world. Jeremiah told the Judean exiles in Babylon to build houses because their exile would be long (Jer 29:28). Our model is Abraham, who lived in tents because he was looking forward to the city to come (Heb 11:9-10).

I'm sure this isn't a new thought, but I wonder whether seeing ourselves as migrants and visitors in the surrounding culture rather than dispossessed "exiles" might point towards a different mode of cultural engagement 🤔
