Montwood High School is the third school in the Socorro ISD and the first high school in West Texas to earn the National Certificate for STEM Excellence (NCSE) from the National Institute for STEM Education (NISE). This certification recognizes schools for their commitment to evidence-based STEM teaching strategies, making Montwood one of only 16 high schools nationwide to achieve this distinction. Congrats, Rams!
Beautiful ceremony this morning. Thank you Dr. Kim Whaley for presenting our campus our banner and plaque showcasing our National Certified STEM Campus. We are the first Comprehensive HS in all of west Texas with the certification. #ExcellenceForAll#Earnyourhorns
Dozens of students excitedly ripped open envelopes yesterday, revealing where they would spend their teacher residencies this coming year. Through the College of Education's Miner Teacher Residency program, students are paired with a mentor at a local school for a full year of intensive hands-on learning to become high-quality teachers.
