There are also many audiologists who think OTCs will “replace” us or run people out of business.

Audiology is about ~much~ more than a physical device used to amplify sound. We have the opportunity to show we are doctors and our services are valuable beyond a device.

An important thing to note regarding OTC devices: they are not for children or those with severe to profound hearing loss.

Additionally, you can still see an audiologist to make sure the device fits and works properly (although not all Auds will work with OTCs) #audiology

The topic of OTCs is the source of a lot of debate in the audiology world. They will certainly allow access to amplification to more people who may benefit from them, but it is also true that best practices include verification and adjustment by a hearing healthcare professional.
