I’m sitting here in South London, and the fireworks noise is just completely bonkers. Never know it so bad. All those poor animals, scared half to death #banfireworks
Wes Streeting has proposed repurposing 1000 locally employed doctor (LED) posts into training numbers for resident doctors.
Converting these roles would almost certainly involve terminating existing LED contracts, writes @parthaskar

UK has around 2.5 hospital beds per 1,000 population. Across Europe and the OECD, the figure is typically between four and eight. Germany; eight beds per 1,000, France around six, Italy three and a half.
They go into winter with system slack. We don’t… https://t.co/87fX3U2c1T
Last week's offer from @wesstreeting to resident doctors provided no new jobs – he simply repurposed jobs that already existed for the sake of ‘new’ jobs on paper.
Today's strikes are the consequence of hurried, last-minute offers. This way of working is in no one’s interest.
How to tell if your appointment was cancelled due to a Doctors strike
Answer you can’t
On a average day in the NHS hospitals cancel 50,000 appts
Strikes days affect 11,000 appts, apparently🤔
Blaming the Drs for a broken system is giving NHS Management/Govt the excuse they want
These 3👇are why I’m cross
We are 1.4k anaesthetists short & counting
Despite this only 1/12 Drs that want to train can🤪
The only thing HMG are doing is releasing plans that rely on non doctors doing our jobs
Medicine has gone from one of the most secure careers to the least
While you are waiting over 12 hours to be seen by a Doctor in AnE, doctors are searching for work unemployed.
14 doctors are applying for 1 AnE training job.
1000s of doctors are ready to work to reduce the waiting list and wait times.
This is a complete failure of the system.
After years of study and sacrifice, doctors are being left unemployed by the NHS.
This year’s specialty training competition makes it clear: too many doctors are being blocked from specialising despite the country desperately needing more consultants and GPs.
Behind every statistic is a doctor who has given up years of their life to serve patients, only to be told there is no place for them.
Those who do find posts are still met with low pay, unsafe conditions, and relentless demands from politicians to do more.
This is not just unfortunate; it is a national disgrace. A failure by every Health Secretary and senior leader in medical education who allowed this crisis to grow year after year.
The reality is simple: doctors want to serve patients, but they are being forced out of the NHS by design. This isn’t a natural disaster. It is a deliberate political choice to underfund training and drive doctors out.

Dear NHS patients,
Whilst you’re waiting:
🚩 > 12 hours in A&E
🚩 Weeks for a GP appt
🚩 Months/(years!) for a hospital appt
Just know that there are >20,000 UNEMPLOYED doctors right now thanks to this government.
