Just published: very high rates of health problems in children transferred from offshore detention. Children seeking asylum need help NOT detention. @Craig_Foster @sarahinthesen8 @Mon4Kooyong @GeorgeNewhouse https://t.co/TtuMDUBR8Z
Greatest lie sold/bought by Australian public is we have to be cruel “to stop the boats.” Yet when we had #kidsoffnauru (nearly 1,000 brought to Oz) no boats started. When 200 came via Medevac, no boats came. When 1,250 taken by US, no boats came. It’s about votes via fear #qanda
1) Biloela Tamil family is only an example of many who have been tortured by the Australian govt for many years; An example of using family love to force people to go back. It is a part of Australian detention identity.
Medicine is the only profession where when the canary in the coal mine dies, leaders just say:
"Why can't we find more resilient canaries?"

Detention harms children. We have long advocated that children should not be held in detention. We stand with our colleagues at the ACAH and support its statement that the issue must be resolved as a matter of urgency. Read more https://t.co/VorAXlgO4c
Haven’t tweeted in forever but - Thank you whoever it was @ADRAblacktown who donated the beautiful baby packages. Today could give a mother, baby and toddler pack to a mother in desperate need. Never heard of ADRA til I read your logo on the package. Love your work ❤️
Thank you @WilkieMP for continuing to highlight the plight of refugees and people seeking asylum. With focus on the Morrison Government's failure to address the situation onshore and in detention centres.
290 still offshore
Over 1,000 in limbo
Over 200 in APODs

@MaralynParker@JaneCaro I would say level of entitlement in children generally reflects parental values rather than schools .But any message that any one group of children are more “valued” and deserve a “better education” is wrong. Whatever their background - all children deserve a good start.
This is a disease that does not discriminate. To all women, and men, affected by perinatal anxiety & depression: you will get better, this will change, & support is available @JulieBorninkhof@PANDAaustralia @GregHuntMP @ranzcog
https://t.co/InvHbNram8 Families with children given 3 weeks to find jobs and accomodation with all support cut. In a pandemic, in a recession, with boarders closed. This will cause destitution, deliberately hurting these children. #RefugeesWelcome#7YearsTooLong#racp
In over 20 years of working for @amnestyOz I don't think I have ever seen a judge so strongly condemn a Minister for "unlawfully" depriving some in need of protection of their liberty @amnestyOz
@cal_kat Agree Katrina - in addition “increasing resilience” is not the way to excuse or avoid dealing with bullying either in the playground or the workplace
Dear Karen’s of Melbourne,
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was created to protect people from persecution, torture, genocide and oppression.
Not so you could endanger the health & safety of staff at my local Bunnings by refusing to wear a mask.
