Researchers @DrJimKerr@DrAVowles @Paul_Kemp_Fish at the @UoS_ICER built on previous work to develop a rapid barrier assessment tool to map the impact of barriers on river networks throughout Europe, as part of the @AMBERtools project.

Great example of low-cost fish passes being installed that have either been developed or tested at @UoS_ICER.

Also, the CBC array pictured below won't aid the spread of Signal crayfish (a harmful non-native species):

Really excited to share my latest paper on selective fish passage. Research assessed whether two low cost fish passage solutions also aid the passage the non-native American signal crayfish.

@Mike_Forty @DrAVowles@AMBERtools@FIThydroproject @UoS_ICER Thanks Mike. Yes and that was just the start... Lots more really good bits of science will be popping up as the work gets published. The work you helped us out with will be part of it. ๐๐๐
Check out the latest breaking news from the AMBER project that it has been great to be a part of for he last four years. Also join the webinar which is going in right now!! @AMBERtools
BREAKING: Over 1 MILLION barriers fragment Europe's rivers! This scale of river fragmentation is alarming, making Europe the most obstructed river landscape in the world.

A major part of our project was to develop new tools to maximize river connectivity by managing barrier adaptively! Tune in now to #amberfithydro2020 to learn more about these tools!
@remotelysensibl @AMBERtools I would have thought so. The huge volumes of water must entrain a lot of fish. Be interesting to do a telemetry study on it!!! #someonefundmetodoit
Great work on the River Lambourn at Shaw, Newbury to remove the gauging station and allow fish passage today. Good news for fish populations and habitat of R. Lambourn. A new ultrasonic gauge will measure river levels. Funded by @EnvAgencySE. Work by @landwatergroup.
Want to learn more about the tool we developed @UoS_ICER for assessing fish passage at barriers. Check out this tweet: @unisouthampton@AMBERtools#ICEprotocol ๐๐๐
1M barriers block Europe's rivers! To manage them we need to know which ones cause the most problems and which can be adapted. 1 negative impact of barriers is that they can impede๐migration. Learn about our tool that evaluates whether๐can effectively pass a barrier. ๐๐
