A re-ballot of junior doctors in England will take place from 7 February to 20 March to extend our mandate for strike action, and provide us with a mandate for action short of strike (ASOS).

1/ NEW & IMPORTANT: So we need to talk about NHS pay. NEW shocking [post DDRB] data just in 4/1/24 👇 (SPOILER: Not "fair & reasonable")
We need to fix pay/retention to fix waiting lists- increasingly clear next GE will won/lost on NHS
Please read whole 🧵 & share widely/RT
The 2p cut in National Insurance will cost the Government £9.4 billion next year. Alternatively, it could have used the money to pay junior doctors what they deserve and end the strikes instead. And invest an extra £140 million a week in the NHS with what was left over.
On picket lines across England, junior doctors are today standing up for fair pay and the future of our profession. #DoctorsStrike
Watch @ERunswickBMA explain why 👇
So much smearing & belittling of consultants in the press, but this, from today’s @thetimes letters page, could not have put it more beautifully.
Pls RT if you agree.

NHS = BRUTAL Real-terms Cuts - £5-40k/ each & every year DOWN
Whole economy = NOT so much - £1k/yr down - £2k/yr UP
Please *ANY* politician tell me this is "FAIR" or REASONABLE 👇
Up until last week, I was often the most senior/experienced #orthotwitter surgeon in Europe’s largest trauma centre
Last weekend, I did 8 operations that *saved limbs*
On average, each operation paid me £24-35 before tax
Just saying

.@RishiSunak if you *really* have same aim as @BMA_Consultants & want to reduce waiting lists / fix our broken NHS, NOW is the time to step up to plate & #FixConsultantPay (& juniors) - this 👇is *NOT* sustainable.
You *MUST* start to *reverse* erosion, before its too late

🚨 It's crazy that the NHS has told 350 doctors training in anaesthesia that the NHS has no job for them after 3 years training.
At the same time we have massive shortages of, you guessed it, anaesthetists. These self-defeating bottlenecks defy logic. Statement from @RCoANews
2020: "We all clap our key workers.. & its an emotional moment for the nation, but we're clapping people that too often have been undervalued & underpaid, & we cannot go back to business as usual at the end of this"
Now: Restore junior doctors pay? Nah
NHS leaders have warned people to avoid 'risky behaviour' in order to stay clear of A&E during this week's junior doctors' strikes.
Do you support the doctors' strike?
A UK doctor now working in Australia gives her view on the junior doctors strike & how drs in Aus are valued more & have better pay, terms/conditions
And none of this is an accident. The Tories have deliberately understaffed/underfunded the NHS for years in order to make it fail
Right: posters up this week at QEH warning patients of 12 hour waits to be seen, referencing junior doctor strikes. Left: a photo I took in the same A&E department in December with no strikes and normal staffing. The NHS is in crisis every day. We have to hold on to our doctors.
Jamie Hale from @PathfindersNMA calls junior doctors the "backbone that keep everything going"
"I can't object to my procedure being cancelled against the incredible burdens that have been put on them by successive underfunding"

A story in four pictures.
We have experienced 13 years of #Tory underfunding, are haemorrhaging staff (of all disciplines) to other countries. The NHS is on its knees.
I’m Canadian, highly trained and mobile, and soon people like me will vote with our feet. #SupportTheStrikes
