Helpful from the BMA: They have voted through several motions this summer about what an Assisted Dying Bill should require - many things that are notably absent from the Bill before parliament.
1) specifies that assisted dying is not a medical treatment! 🧵
Our resident Dr colleagues need to earn money to pay their debts, buy a house, provide for their families…
Drs being unemployed after 6-7 years of medical school & foundation training is unacceptable.
Your post is wide of the mark Arun - an insult to our younger colleagues.

I think this is very disturbing.
No one should be forced to declare their religious beliefs, in my view.
I'm very open about mine but the striking thing in this debate is that I have for decades lined up with people who do not share them. Yet we have the same view on this.
🚨We’ve heard that doctors affected by the MRCP error are being told they will not be able to progress their HST applications.
Urgent advice: do not withdraw any application & continue applying if you are affected. If you are prevented from applying keep emails and screenshots.

Ernest Hemingway once said: In our darkest moments, we don't need solutions or advice. What we yearn for is simply human connection--a quiet presence, a gentle touch. These small gestures are the anchors that hold us steady when life feels like too much.

Morphine myth busting
-It not used to shorten life expectancy
-It is not used to sedate people
-It is only one of many options for pain control in palliative care
-There is no maximum dose, the right dose is the one that works for that individual
-Morphine does not = dying
(6) in my view it’s past time @DHSCgovuk@HMRCgovuk to put out urgent guidance that due to the administration failures of @nhs_pensions (and to be fair other pensions agencies affecting doctors) that deadlines need to be formally relaxed around RPSS and SA for 23/24

Medical Assisted deaths in Canada have been rising progressively
Like the UK the failure of supportive palliative care is one factor, perceived burden on relatives or carers
Many do change their mind once these factors are fixed
We must fix these first

May you be a person of peace not of conflict. May you know how to build bridges of hope to those who feel the threat of despair. May you keep an open heart, an open home and an open hand to those who face rejection and isolation. Small things make a big difference. #niteblessing
