Somalia takes a major leap in modernizing public finance!

I was proud to present the Public Finance Management Digitalization Regulation 2025 to the Cabinet for approval yesterday. It is a landmark step toward making government finances more transparent, accountable, and efficient.

With this reform, payments and PFM processes go paperless, boosting efficiency while protecting our environment, and leapfrogging #Somalia into the forefront of PFM digitalization globally.

The regulation introduces secure e-signatures, interoperable fiscal data systems, and ethical AI while advancing critical platforms like SFMIS. It strengthens budget execution, revenue collection, and reporting while reducing fraud risks. This will further strengthen donor confidence, economic stability, and create a better future for our nation and people.

This is follows #Somalia's successful completion of the HIPC process in 2023 and the Paris Club agreement in 2024. We are grateful to the government and people of France for their unwavering support.
