We're watching an enormous misread of the results from Wisconsin. The dumb take is that the DSA has reached its ceiling, and the establishment is fighting back. That's totally wrong. The normie Dems are simply negotiating the terms of their surrender.

Those terms are obvious: the Democratic Party will ingest and mirror the key precepts of the DSA, and they won't go whole hog against DSA candidates who don't totally say the quiet part out loud. This is why Slotkin didn't endorse Stevens against El-Sayed in Michigan. It's why Schumer and Jeffries didn't endorse Cuomo against Mamdani in NYC.

In return, the DSA's most important figures will refrain from endorsing the very worst candidates. This is why Bernie and AOC didn't endorse Hong. If they had, she would have won.

The goal of the pact is obvious: candidates who are DSA in all but name, who receive unified Democratic support after the primaries, and who still have a shot at winning a general election. So don't be fooled: the DSA is driving the car, choosing the direction. The normie Dems are just negotiating over the speed.

People don’t realize how insanely inefficient some large hospitals are. Starting a first-case surgery at 10:45 and having 3 hour turnovers makes a huge difference in how many patients you can treat in a given week/month/year.

It means elective cases wait longer for care, urgent cases linger in the hospital longer, and the hospital loses money.

Then these hospitals will demand more taxpayer subsidies instead of just fixing the inefficiencies.

This is why competition matters.

People earning over $850k would not benefit from Medicare for all.

Those with high incomes would exit the system and pay cash, but would also have to pay this new tax. They wouldn’t be allowed to purchase the private insurance they want.

The middle class would also be worse off. They wouldn’t be able to afford the cash pay system. So they’d lose their private insurance and wouldn’t be able to afford the cash system of the rich.

The lower class would be worse off. They’d lose medicaid, and have to fight this new influx of beneficiaries for scarce access to care. Just like after medicaid expansion saw a huge influx in ER visits because nobody could access primary care, M4A would cause this increased demand with no increased supply. The lower class always loses out in that situation.

The people who would be better off: the middlemen and bureaucrats who would administer the system and the lobbyists who jockey for influence over the $5T government money.
