@DrJenGunter A TOP has a lower mortality rate than a continuing pregnancy in most countries (incl. US) so I, as a physician may “feel” that any ongoing pregnancy represents a danger to the mother’s life. How much “danger” do I have to “feel” she is in?
@Euro_Bo_Bo@dob86 Dare I say it, but maybe many juniors today would be happy to accept similar conditions, if they knew they had passionate mentors fighting their corner
@Euro_Bo_Bo@dob86 For all that’s wrong with it (and there’s a lot wrong with it), I get a sense of someone who is heavily invested in his juniors & training…
@EmilyJBarley@ReynoldsLynda@Safe_Maternity Mainly the length of admission. Most ELCS admitted in the morning, 1 night in hospital and then discharge next day. Most IOLs take 2-3 days before established labour. Often delays in “ARMable” pts being moved to LW. Some end up with EMCS, which prolongs admission further
@dob86 I agree… but you know only too well some 🏥 just give a six month rota, regardless of how long placements are
👩⚕️“The rota you’ve given me only goes up to Feb, I’m here for 18/12. When will I get the rest of my rota?”
🏥 “We’ll tell you at the end of Dec, as per national T&Cs”
@rbarbosa91 While a medical student in Scotland, I was told (perhaps incorrectly) the Aberdeen knot was not developed in Aberdeen. Instead, the name was a slight on Aberdonians, who have a reputation for being careful with their money. The knot leaves a longer length of suture left over…
@liambarker At least they introduced themself by name/grade. I carry a phone for referrals when oncall. Always make a point of answering with name/grade. 95% of people just launch into, “yeah, anyway, I’ve got a woman with…” no name & no idea if it’s a med student, cons, nurse. BOILS MY PISS
@jimgthornton Do you think we should be treating more expectantly? Some evidence that for tubal ectopics, that fit criteria for medical mgmt, outcomes are similar when expectantly managed.
Doing something isn’t always better than doing nothing, and MTX can cause significant harm…
