It’s concerning to hear @wesstreeting state he’s not concerned about the NHS losing 1000s of doctors just because they’re international medical graduates.
UK graduate prioritisation is needed to address specialty training bottlenecks but needs to include protections for IMG colleagues already working here and contributing to the NHS.
Your @DoctorsVoteUK reps will continue to advocate regarding the need for these protections
"The Government’s latest offer fails to address the medical jobs crisis and does nothing to stem the exodus of medics from this country."
The health secretary must start treating doctors with respect, as @fletchjack writes in the @guardian 📢👇 https://t.co/FyoYfRNbSi
The @BMAResidents have been branded juvenile delinquents, moaning Minnie’s, out of touch with our grassroots
With an overwhelming 83% no vote on an 65% turnout these claims are put to bed for good
@wesstreeting the ball is in your court
I don’t think people realise just how big this outcome is.
These percentages are high enough to win a statutory ballot and it was done in just 3 days.
The fallacy that their leaders were detached from their rank and file is dead.
Resident doctors are angry and unified.

🚨Resident doctors in England🚨
This is your chance to have your say over whether or not we should call off December strike action to explore the Government’s offer.
Check your emails and vote before 7am on Monday!
@wesstreeting Until a first year resident Doctor earns more than a newly qualified physician assistant there will always be an injustice that fuels the fire within resident doctors.
Our resident doctor strikes are covered by kind senior doctors to ensure that emergency activity goes ahead.
It is NHS England and yourselves that put patients at risk by pushing for elective activity when staffing is stretched.
That is dangerous and a source of shame.
@wesstreeting Every day patients are lined up in corridors, sat on waiting lists for urgent care and suffering poor care due to chronic underfunding.
This will not be fixed without reversing years of poor workforce planning and keeping your word around restoring pay so we can keep Drs.
What the public wants is enough doctors so they can access medical care
It’s literally your job to ensure the NHS has enough doctors
You choosing to hold doctors’ jobs ransom in a trade dispute is a political choice you’re making
A choice the public is paying the price of
Hi @wesstreeting I’m asking in good faith. How does withholding any prioritisation for UK graduates win you any favours with the electorate?(considering the polls and who they are flocking to vote for). Why are you providing them further ammunition to use against you?
Mr @wesstreeting said in the spring he would do something to prioritise UK Grads etc, it's now the end of the year and he has done bugger all, why trust him now?
“We need a serious long-term sustainable solution to this crisis, and that’s within the secretary of state’s gift.”
Deputy co-chair @callumjparr speaking to @BBCNewsnight about the latest offer from government👇
@wesstreeting So your CMO has suggested it needs fixing. You think it needs fixing. But you are holding it hostage?
How is that a reasonable thing to do?
@wesstreeting What I cannot understand, is that if you truly think this is an important thing to do, and as you said in Parliament, important to protect the investment tax payers have made. Then why would you not implement this anyway as its the right thing to do?
@NHSEngland Respectfully, you’re only doing these things because of the pressure from industrial action. Not out of the kindness of your own hearts. Otherwise it would have been done at any point in the last 20-30 years
Your @DoctorsVoteUK candidates in the West Midlands have been out across the region, spreading the message to vote in the BMA Resident Doctor Committee elections. We will fight for FPR and increased training places.

Post Leng it’s clear the associate project always was as evidence free as it was illogical
What needs answering now is why the Colleges & universities were so happy to champion a project that destroyed professional standards & jeopardised patient safety?
I want accountability
