1. Not all N95s are the same! Fluid resist (FR) vs non FR
2. 3M advise all N95s meet our standards, protect in AGPs
3. BUT, if risk facial contamination by body fluids in high risk covid19 pt, need FR mask as part of airborne PPE
4. ANZCA flow diagram still applies per usual
@ANZCA To clarify: we have 3M 8210 and 8110 masks among our local PPE stockpile. Are you saying these models are suitable for AGPs (say, when performing intubation in ED/elsewhere) but not also protection against fluid splashes etc (as might occur in OT)?
Please see updated ANZCA PPE statement/flow diagram. Incorporating national high level expertise, as single benchmark best practice. Designed to allow for local modification by local expert advice, depending on epidemiology/resources. A thousand thanks to the many who contributed
Continuation of non-urgent elective surgery undermines social isolation and exposes patents and healthcare workers to infection, consumes our already short supplies of PPE and medicines, and reduces time needed for staff to undertake upskilling in COVID procedures.
Good news from Scott Morrison regarding suspension of elective surgery, exceptions being Cat1 and urgent Cat 2. Thanks to the College's, Societies and individuals who have all lobbied for this. Still much to do.
Congratulations Albert, and thank you for so generously making this available for all to use, in seven languages! We are once again reminded of the professionalism and contributions of our FANZCAs in Hong Kong. You are a wonderful ambassador for both HKCA and ANZCA. Thank you.
