We can't, and shouldn't judge someone's credibilities on their accent.

Society is full of stereotypes which can be damaging.

The accent one though and people's criticism of mine is something that I really struggle with

I've always felt my voice is 'too posh' for being a) born in Wakefield, & b) now living in Durham.

Whilst this is the reverse of many of the issues highlighted here about regional & northern agents, I've still felt marginalised.

My accent 'fits' in these elite spaces, somehow. But I don't.

How I ended up with the accent I have, being born in Yorkshire to a mancunian dad & Essex mum, I do not know, but being 'posh'is equally not always desirable & helpful you feel like you belong

@DougalSouthward Can I get referred through GP to a sports doctor in the North East, or is that something that needs to be private (and the associated costs of any then diagnostic tests)?

The #NHS is great. In principle.

But when you have 4 stress fractures and get discharged from one dept, the orthopedic consultant says that the only reason you have the fractures is the sport you do & that you should stop sport, I've lost faith that anyone cares.

@DougalSouthward Thanks for the reply. What do you advise doing next? I'm an age group triathlete who has world champs on April, & I'd like to a) have a medically informed return to running protocol, & b) begin to understand what is the reason for these injuries and what to do to prevent them
