During the 10th annual Fungal Disease Awareness Week, @SecKennedy joined @DrSchwartzCDC, @CDCgov experts, clinicians, researchers, and patient advocates for a roundtable on mold surveillance.
The goal is clear: diagnose fungal disease sooner, improve treatment, strengthen surveillance, and protect patients and communities.
It was a pleasure sharing with business and healthcare leaders the important work CDC is doing to protect the American people. Strong partnerships and open communication are essential to ensuring the work happening at CDC translates into stronger, healthier communities.

Marking 25 years since September 11, I reflected on the enduring responsibility we carry to those whose lives and health were forever changed by that day—and reaffirmed CDC’s commitment to standing with the 9/11 community for the years ahead.
I had the opportunity to tour CDC’s Emergency Operations Center, which is staffed 24/7 to monitor and respond to public health threats. I saw firsthand the expertise, coordination, and dedication that go into protecting Americans when every moment matters.
On my first tour of CDC headquarters at the Roybal campus, I saw the agency’s extraordinary laboratory expertise firsthand. This is where gold standard science meets a commitment to protecting the health and safety of the American people.
To every member of the CDC workforce: thank you for what you have done, thank you for what you continue to do, and thank you for choosing a career dedicated to protecting others.
At my first all-hands staff meeting with CDC, I shared this commitment: I will not ask you to trust me simply because I am your Director. I will work to earn that trust through my actions, my decisions, and the way I lead.
I was proud to swear in Dr. Erica Schwartz as Director of @CDCgov.
Dr. Schwartz brings decades of experience as a physician, public health leader, and public servant. Together, we will restore public trust, strengthen CDC’s core mission, and hold the agency to the highest standards of scientific integrity and transparency.
Congratulations, Dr. Schwartz. Let’s get to work and Make America Healthy Again.
CDC Director Dr. Erica Schwartz introduced herself to staff this week and shared three initial priorities: earning trust through transparency and scientific rigor, strengthening CDC’s ability to detect and respond to health threats, and deepening partnerships with states and communities.
Dr. Schwartz emphasized that listening to all Americans is essential to understanding the needs of the people and communities CDC serves and building public trust. As CDC marks 80 years of service, she reaffirmed her commitment to supporting the workforce and strengthening the agency’s readiness to protect Americans from emerging and evolving health threats.
