A few weeks on from the 36th ISUOG World Congress in London, I’ve been reflecting on what made this year’s Congress such a memorable experience.

The scientific programme was exceptional, bringing together an extraordinary depth of expertise from across the world. But, as ever, some of the greatest value came from the people — the conversations between sessions, exchanging ideas with colleagues, strengthening existing relationships and making new connections.

It was a real privilege to contribute to the discussions, learn from so many respected colleagues and spend time with friends from across our global community.

A huge amount of work goes into delivering an international Congress of this scale, and ISUOG did an outstanding job. From the quality and breadth of the programme to the organisation throughout the four days, it created exactly the kind of environment in which knowledge can be shared, ideas challenged and new collaborations formed.

Thank you to everyone at ISUOG, the faculty, speakers, delegates and colleagues who made the Congress such a positive and rewarding few days.

The Congress may be over, but the conversations, relationships and ideas that came from it continue.

Étude publiée à partir de la grande cohorte américaine sur 10 838 enfants âgés d’environ 10 ans, dont 751 exposés au cannabis🪴 pendant la grossesse 🤰 .

Les enfants exposés présentaient en moyenne :

👉davantage de symptômes comportementaux et psychopathologiques
👉des performances légèrement inférieures dans plusieurs domaines cognitifs
👉surtout, des différences de connectivité fonctionnelle cérébrale à l’IRM, dont certaines recoupent les réseaux associés aux difficultés cognitives et comportementales.

Mais attention ⚠️ : les effets sont faibles et l’étude est observationnelle.

Les auteurs précisent eux-mêmes que ces différences ne sont pas utilisables comme biomarqueurs individuels et que l’analyse transversale ne permet pas d’établir que le cannabis est la cause des modifications observées.

Les femmes consommant du cannabis pendant la grossesse diffèrent potentiellement des non-consommatrices sur de nombreux facteurs : tabac, alcool, contexte socio-économique, santé mentale, génétique, environnement familial, etc.
L’ajustement statistique ne permet jamais d’éliminer totalement ces facteurs.

Corrélation ≠ causalité à ce stade.

Un signal supplémentaire en faveur de la prudence vis-à-vis du cannabis pendant la grossesse, mais certainement pas la démonstration que « le cannabis endommage le cerveau du fœtus ».

Uterine cancer is one of the five main types of gynecologic cancer — and it is on the rise globally.

It is already the most common gynecologic cancer in many high-income countries. Risk is closely connected to metabolic health, including factors such as obesity and diabetes, making prevention and awareness increasingly important.

At the same time, advances in molecular testing and new treatments are changing how we understand and treat uterine cancer. But scientific progress only matters when it reaches the people who need it.

That’s one reason IGCS and IGCAN lead Uterine Cancer Awareness Month each June — bringing patients, advocates, clinicians, and organizations around the world together to increase awareness and help turn progress into better outcomes.

This Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, keep that awareness going.

🩷 The ABC8 International Consensus Guidelines for Advanced Breast Cancer have been accepted for publication in The Breast.

The new guidelines reflect how rapidly metastatic breast cancer has changed, from increasingly sophisticated ESR1, PIK3CA, AKT/PTEN, BRCA/PALB2 and HER2 biomarker selection to earlier ADC use and new maintenance strategies.

Among the important updates are expanded molecular testing and ctDNA guidance; new endocrine and targeted options after CDK4/6 inhibition; PATINA and HER2CLIMB-05 maintenance strategies in HER2-positive disease; first-line T-DXd + pertuzumab as an option where approved; and the growing role of sacituzumab govitecan and datopotamab deruxtecan in first-line TNBC.

But ABC8 is not only about new drugs.

The guidelines give a strong recommendation for structured exercise as part of comprehensive advanced breast cancer care and introduce explicit guidance on artificial intelligence: AI may support clinical decision-making, but it should not replace evidence-based medicine or shared decisions between patients and clinicians.

The larger message is clear: advanced breast cancer care is becoming increasingly molecular, sequential, adaptive, and patient centered.
