I decided to email the EU Team about their Election Expert Mission report for Pakistan’s 2024 election. They replied back saying that the Pakistani government has not given them the “agreement” to make the report public… @GovtofPakistan#PakElection2024
When 🇪🇺sends an Election Observation Mission to a country, like in🇵🇰 in 1997,2002,2008,2013&2018, the📝 is always public;for a small Election Expert Mission like this year, the host govt received the📝 & makes it public at its discretion. The 🇪🇺 wld welcome publication @raoofhasan
I quote-tweeted this yesterday but it is still hard to put in words what this post from @NYCMayor means to so many millions of Muslims, especially Shias, not just across the US but across the world. If only more non-Muslims knew less about ISIS & more about Imam Hussain. #ashura
Pakistan’s mediation of the Iran deal presents it with an opportunity to capitalize on its newfound global prominence and to expand its footprint in the world. But this will involve hard work, both abroad and at home.

Books themselves are freedom. Freedom to think, to believe, to dream. Why is Imran Khan being denied this freedom? Being a prisoner in jail should not take away your freedom to think. This is an alarming update about Imran Khan’s books by @chsajjad844@ImranKhanPTI@Aleema_KhanPK

PTI Leadership, NOW is the time when Imran Khan Needs You!
The impact of hundreds of elected members (Senators, MNAs and MPAs) of KP and Punjab assemblies at Adiala will be huge.
It WILL create the necessary pressure on this Govt (who is in power by stealing Imran Khan’s mandate) to get Imran Khan treated at Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad.
It is an urgent and necessary pressure for Dogar court to take up Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s bail applications and set them FREE.
Police usually arrests Imran Khan’s supporters; not the family or elected members. We appeal to Imran Khan’s supporters (who are not office holders) NOT to come to Adiala today.
It was just confirmed to me that Khan Sab was taken to PIMS last night for eye injection and medical check up.
I would add that whatever the treatment our concern remains unanswered - Khan sab and Bushra BB be shifted to Hospital for treatment under the supervision of personal doctors accompanied by family members. This is their fundamental right. We have been demanding its implementation since long.
BREAKING: President Trump and First Lady are rushed out of the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
It is unclear what led up to the evacuation, but attendees of the event were seen on video feed ducking and covering around their tables.
BREAKING: US Vice President JD Vance and a US delegation are set to land in Islamabad within hours, reports US media.

Pakistan’s key goal at upcoming talks: extend truce. Buys more time for talks on tougher issues (eg Iran nukes, Strait of H). Pak is under pressure to get a peace deal, but as mediator it’ll be prepared to play a long game & see these talks not as an end but part of a process.
I understand @ImranKhanPTI son's frustration. While Pakistani government's efforts at facilitating negotiations to end the war between #USA/#Israel and #Iran is commendable, we should not forget its terrible and unjust treatment of @ImranKhanPTI, his family and his supporters.#Pakistan

“President Xi is very happy that the Strait of Hormuz is open and/or rapidly opening. Our meeting in China will be a special one and, potentially, Historic. I look forward to being with President Xi — Much will be accomplished!” - President DONALD J. TRUMP
🇺🇸🇵🇰🇮🇷 Trump praised Pakistan’s leadership for playing mediator in the Iran negotiations.
Islamabad hosted the 21-hour marathon talks and the upcoming Sunday round.
Trump's even considering flying to Islamabad if a deal closes there.
Thank you to Pakistan and its Great Prime Minister and Field Marshall, two fantastic people!!! President DONALD J. TRUMP

I genuinely don’t understand how any reasonable person can interpret the failure of the U.S. and Iran to reach a deal in Islamabad as a failure of Pakistani diplomacy.
Consider what Pakistan achieved: 1. It got U.S. and Iranian negotiators in the same room at the highest level in 47 years. 2. It received public appreciation for its role from both warring parties. 3. It maintained the trust and tacit support of China and Saudi Arabia, important players in this drama. 4. It earned the goodwill of scores of nations that would like this conflict to end sooner rather than later.
Is Pakistan worse off than it would have been if the U.S. and Iran had thrashed out an agreement? Yes, obviously. The Pakistani economy is fragile and particularly dependent on both energy imports and remittances from the Gulf. And if Saudi Arabia is drawn into the war Pakistan could be forced to honor its defense pact with the Kingdom, which could trigger widespread domestic unrest.
But accepting that a deal is better than no deal for Pakistan (and many other countries) is not the same as claiming that the summit was a failure from Pakistan’s perspective. It most clearly was not. Pakistan has emerged, at least for now, as a prominent diplomatic actor on the world stage, and as the recipient of much international goodwill. I’m not sure how anyone can claim otherwise.
Most debate on how Pakistan positioned itself to host the recent talks has overlooked a key earlier moment: Imran Khan & Gen Bajwa (before things went south) worked to strengthen ties w/Iran & be more neutral re Iran & KSA. Helped build trust w/Iran (despite a brief war in 2024).
When the #BBC—no friend of #Pakistan—says Islamabad delivered, it confirms without any doubt that Pakistan did indeed strike an incredible diplomatic coup on the international stage, regardless of the outcome of today’s negotiations.
The US, for domestic political reasons, wants a deal that enables it to exit the war. That such a senior group flew all the way to Pak shows the US commitment. Despite Vance’s comments, this likely isn’t over. More talks could come-but unclear if they’ll be in Pak or elsewhere.
Over the decades I've written countless columns about Pakistan's government behaving irresponsibly in one way or another. But compliments to Prime Minister @CMShehbaz; during this Iran war, he has been an adult in the room in pushing for peace, and the world owes him gratitude.
