I am pleased to share that Nigeria broke new grounds in the global mining industry on Monday, as I was unanimously elected the pioneer chairman of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group.
During the signing of the resolution at the 30th edition of Investing in Africa Indaba in Cape Town, South Africa, I emphasized the need for African leaders to unite and maximize the benefits from the continent's mineral resources.
I stressed the importance of speaking with one voice on value addition in the mining sector and emphasized the need to ensure that Africa's mineral resources are utilized effectively.
This initiative follows the rallying of African Ministers of Solid Minerals/Mineral Resources on the sidelines of the Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Nigeria and Uganda championed the importance of value addition in the mining sector to boost African economies.
As we navigate through these times of FX volatility, let's not lose sight of the bigger picture. It's a stark reminder of the importance of focusing on domestic production and leveraging our inherent strengths. I still remain excited by the opportunities in the Agriculture and Mining sectors, where we can lay the foundation for a more resilient and sustainable economy.
The Agriculture sector, a cornerstone of our economy, not only has the potential to ensure food security but also to become a leading player in the global market. By focusing on domestic production, we can reduce our reliance on imports, stabilize our food supply, and create countless jobs, driving economic growth from within.
Similarly, the Mining sector holds vast untapped resources that, if properly harnessed, can contribute significantly to our GDP. Nigeria is blessed with a plethora of minerals waiting to be explored, offering a unique opportunity for both local and international investors.
Partnerships are the bedrock of how I think of business. Going it alone sucks.
"If you want to go fast, go alone; If you want to go far, go together." African Proverb.
Thanks to all our partners on this journey to bring financial freedom to Africans 🙏🏾
