We are going to look back at some point and realize the continued encouragement of use of technology in Our classrooms wasn’t in the best interest of our students’ learning.

No technology or new app/website can replace a Teacher who cares for & builds strong relationships w/ students & has a strong content knowledge of their subject. If you are an engaging teacher students will be engaged. If you aren’t engaging no technology will help that.

At some point we need to quit investing in "technology training" and invest in training for all teachers in the building having the ability to work with students with learning disabilities, social emotional problems, high functioning autism, etc.

No. This is a settled question across the profession. Ban the phones and be done with it.

“Teaching” is not the right paradigm for handling a device designed to be addictive.

Teachers are tired of receiving ‘expert advice’ from someone NOT in the classroom…

Same goes to the person who was only there for 1-3 years OR the one who hasn’t been there for 15+ years.

@eduleadership @TWilliams_EdS I agree with your point about not being able to move forward with instruction if the work is not complete. But is there there data that shows penalizing provides motivation to not continue to complete work late (I know there isn’t data saying accepting late is beneficial either)

Not even sure why this take was given. A kid using a fidget toy isn’t doing anything to hinder a teacher’s ability to instruct

Hotter take here is why should a student have to have an accommodation to use a fidget toy in their IEP/504 plan just because it bothers the teacher

It would lead to teachers simply teaching to test. Everything we do to assess a students knowledge shouldn’t always be a “test”

What if we said that students are required to pass a standardized exam to move up a grade? Assuming it was high quality and such. If you fail, you retake the grade.
