In 1994, when we went to Sri Lanka to play three Tests and three One Day Internationals, the situation in Sri Lanka was not good. There were many clashes with the LTTE. After two Test matches in Colombo, a blast occurred, and a curfew was imposed in the city, leading to the cancellation of the third Test. Despite the adverse conditions, the Pakistan team remained in Colombo, and the decision made by the Pakistan Cricket Board and the government was taken very seriously by the players.
In place of the canceled Test, two One Day matches were added, making it five matches in total. Pakistan won the Test series 2-0 and the One Day series 4-1.
In January 1996, the situation in Sri Lanka was again dire, resembling a civil war with frequent bomb blasts, suicide attacks, and curfews. The 1996 World Cup was to be held in India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. West Indies and Australia refused to go to Sri Lanka. It was a challenging time, prompting Pakistan and India to form a joint team and send it to Colombo.
The team included Azharuddin, Sachin Tendulkar, Saeed Anwar, Wasim Akram, Anil Kumble, Rashid Latif, Waqar Younis, Ajay Jadeja, Ijaz Ahmed, and Aamer Sohail. At that time, their Prime Minister was Bandaranaike. After the match, captain Ranatunga gave a speech, during which he became emotional and thanked both teams. Sri Lanka won the World Cup final against Australia in Lahore, and Benazir Bhutto presented the trophy to Ranatunga.
On March 3, 2009, the Sri Lankan team was attacked in Lahore, after which international cricket doors closed, and Pakistan began playing in the UAE.
Once again, when a blast occurred, the Sri Lankan team was in Islamabad. Some players requested their management to return, causing some difficulties for the PCB. The Pakistan Cricket Board and the government promptly utilized their diplomatic relations to meet with the Sri Lankan Board's management and high commission, resulting in the Sri Lankan Cricket Board issuing a press release stating that their team would complete the tour.
Cricket within Pakistan is very important, and the Sri Lankan team has the capability to provide good competition. Pakistan had not hosted home series for about 8 to 9 years because all countries refrained from touring due to security concerns. However, since home series resumed, all teams, including Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, South Africa, West Indies, and New Zealand, have toured Pakistan on regular basis.
Since the war with India, there have been significant changes in geopolitics, leading to Pakistan being viewed as a powerful country.

Owing to the increased drug trafficking & drug peddling that have seeped into every mohallah, an operation clean-up since yesterday is being carried out across Punjab. Our youth is our future & I will leave no stone unturned to safeguard them against all menaces. Insha’Allah.
