That’s good news.

[Sports in Kansas @sportsinkansas]

Sports in Kansas is excited to welcome Dominique Schutte to the team as a content creator. Schutte, a sophomore at Ottawa University, is excited to bring her passion for sports to the SIK team. She is a graduate of Halstead HS and will be training with Sports in Kansas this fall, while helping assist with social media platforms. “I’m beyond excited to start working with Sports in Kansas! Growing up in a small Kansas town with parents who coached high school sports, I’ve always had a deep love for Kansas — especially Kansas athletics. I've always had a knack for sports and a curiosity for the stories behind every team, player, coach, and moment (because there are some truly incredible ones out there). I’m from Halstead, KS, and graduated in 2024. I played basketball, volleyball, and track — and fun fact: I was a Sports in Kansas First Team All State Basketball selection my senior year. Now, I’m a sophomore at Ottawa University, where I play on the basketball team and was honored to be named KCAC Freshman of the Year this past season. I also compete on the debate team for Ottawa. I’m majoring in Communications — so getting to work with Sports in Kansas is a perfect fit for my passion and career goals. I can't wait to get started and help showcase just how amazing Kansas sports really are!” Schutte said. We can’t wait to see what’s ahead for Dom as she joins our team! “We are very excited for Dominique to join Sports in Kansas in a part time role while she’s in college. She will fit right in with our team with her passion for sports. As we continue to grow, we will continue to need more talented people in the field to tell the stories of Kansas high school athletes. She has a great background in creating viral content on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, areas that we’ve expanded more into so she will help in taking some of our content to those channels. Also s/o to both of her parents who each won a state tite as head coaches in 3A last year Halstead in volleyball and basketball.” Sports in Kansas CEO/Founder Chet Kuplen said. #sportsinkansas

Defense and unselfishness win championships, just ask @AddisenW1.

Watch the hustle to get back & hound ball handler, which leads to a steal. Then she has the poise to make the pass to @KaciYoung_11.

@Halstead_AD erased 13-point deficit on this play and went on to win 3A title.

[Sports in Kansas @sportsinkansas]

Halstead captured their first ever state basketball championship on Saturday in Hutchinson as they defeated Silver Lake, 48-45. Dragons finished 25-1 on the year under head coach Derek Schutte. The Dragons also won the 3A state volleyball championship this fall under Derek’s wife, Diana Schutte. What a year it’s been for Halstead. #sportsinkansas
