As a Cornell mom 2022-2026, it’s stunning that the first time I heard of the Cornell 7 was this week, on Twitter.
Cornell’s “management” of the incident goes beyond catastrophic failure. They have signaled to the world that women are no more protected at one of the greatest institutions of higher learning in the world than they are anywhere else.
Furthermore, by allowing the attackers to remain on campus, they both endangered the safety of other students and further entrenched sexual abuse as a cultural norm.
