I have followed with deep concern the developments surrounding the reported freezing of the bank accounts of the Osun State Government by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), coming just days before the governorship election.

Let me reiterate that I have always supported a relentless fight against corruption. However, that fight must never become a tool for political intimidation or the suppression of democracy. No institution, however important, should be used in a manner that creates the impression of influencing the electoral process.

The timing of this action raises legitimate questions. If investigations had been ongoing for months, why take such a drastic step on the eve of an election? In a democracy, institutions must not only be impartial but must also be seen to be impartial.

What is increasingly troubling is the growing perception that state institutions are being deployed to achieve political ends and secure power at all costs. This is dangerous for our democracy. Governments come and go, but once institutions lose their independence and credibility, the nation suffers.

If there is evidence of wrongdoing, the Constitution provides a clear path: seek the appropriate orders from a competent court. Due process is the foundation of justice. No agency should exercise powers beyond those granted by law.

I call on all relevant authorities to act strictly within the Constitution and ensure that nothing undermines the credibility of the Osun Governorship Election. The people of Osun must be allowed to freely determine their future through the ballot, without intimidation or institutional interference.

Nigeria’s democracy was built on sacrifice. We must not allow it to be weakened by the misuse of institutions or the pursuit of political advantage.

This girl, Chizoba, just graduated from Mechatronics at Nile University with a CGPA of 4.96.

She will be with us for the next 4 weeks teaching our children hardcore Robotics and AI. All practicals.

Her final-year project was constructing and programming a 3D printer from scratch. She also built unique technology that converts waste water bottles into 3D printing filaments.

These next 4 weeks are going to be on fire. Our children will also build drones from the ground up.

We selected the top 40 South East Maths Olympiad Winners from Enugu to participate in this program.

I find it strange that every few years, some Africans argue about whether their own native language is “useful.”

A language is not valuable because it gets you a job.

A language is valuable because it carries the memory of a people.

English connects you to the world but your mother tongue connects you to your identity, your history, your grandparents, your culture, and a way of thinking that cannot be fully translated.

The future belongs to people who can preserve who they are while engaging the world.

The real advantage is raising a child who can think, dream, and express themselves fluently in their local language, while also communicating confidently in English and other global languages.

Hunger and the Insensitivity of Mr. President

I watched with deep concern the statement made by President Bola Tinubu to the Catholic Bishops who visited his office, that there has always been hunger in Nigeria, even before he was born.

While it is true that hunger has been a part of human life and has existed in our country for decades, such a statement appears insensitive to the plight of the millions of Nigerians who face worsening economic hardship today. More importantly, we must focus on the facts and the measurable outcomes of governance.

Before the present administration assumed office in 2023, an estimated 17 million Nigerians were facing acute food insecurity, primarily caused by insecurity, armed conflict, widespread banditry, and devastating floods. Today, less than three years later, that number has risen to about 35 million Nigerians. Instead of improving the situation, the crisis has worsened significantly under the current administration.

The same trend is evident in poverty. Before this government took office in 2023, Nigeria’s extreme poverty was estimated at 87 million people. Current projections suggest that this number is approaching 140 million people, making Nigeria home to the largest population of people living in extreme poverty anywhere in the world.

No one disputes that this administration inherited serious challenges. However, leadership is measured not by the challenges inherited but by the results achieved. The government must honestly acknowledge that its response has fallen far short of what the situation demanded, with millions more Nigerians pushed deeper into poverty and hunger.

The combination of persistent insecurity, poor economic management, fiscal indiscipline, wasteful public expenditure, and inadequate investment in productive sectors has compounded the suffering of ordinary Nigerians.

A responsible government must prioritise investment in education, healthcare, agriculture, security, and small businesses while pursuing policies that create jobs, expand production, and lift people out of poverty. That remains my commitment to the Nigerian people.

Yesterday morning, these children from Abor village in Enugu State gathered to learn “Place Value” in Mathematics. The turnout became so large that we now have to create a daily timetable for different groups.

These are the same children the community had been saying were not serious about their studies for years. Yet, we changed that narrative after just one encounter.

Before this holiday ends, every child in this village will have a strong foundation in Mathematics.

And here’s the most interesting part: no teacher is standing in front of the class. We only have a supervisor to maintain order while the children learn through world-class lessons delivered in the most engaging and exciting way.

Children are the same everywhere.

The difference is not intelligence.

The difference is access.

My respect for Peter Obi has doubled.

He did a full one-hour-plus interview with Seun without mentioning Tinubu’s name or discussing Keyamo and the airport saga. He went straight to national issues: making roads safe for motorists, agriculture for all, and improving the economy for everyone.

Peter is their nightmare.

There is no country on earth where a child will be sent to prison because they scored an F in an exam.

But every day, people lose their freedom, destroy their futures, or even lose their lives because of poor character, lack of discipline, greed, dishonesty, or violence.

Yet many parents panic over grades and ignore character.

If your child leaves school with integrity, discipline, empathy, resilience, and the ability to do the right thing even when nobody is watching, you’ve already won.

Academics can open doors.

Character determines what happens after those doors open.

The greatest product of any school should not be straight A’s.

It should be responsible human beings.

Peter Obi didn’t just speak about unity, he practised it. As Governor of Anambra state, his Commissioners of Police were Northerners, and his ADC was a Muslim. He chose competence over ethnicity, character over religion, and service over division.

A Peter Obi–Kwankwaso ticket is more than a political alliance; it is a unifying and healing ticket for Nigeria. It represents a country where competence overrides nepotism, where religion doesn’t determine opportunity, where tribe doesn’t limit potential, and where merit and hard work are rewarded.

I received a phone call from Mr Peter Obi and am deeply grateful for the words of encouragement from His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, in appreciation of our 65 Free Adenotonsillectomy and ENT Surgery Initiative, organized to mark his birthday and give back to our country, Nigeria.

As of today, we have screened over 50 patients, categorizing them into surgical and non-surgical cases while also managing other medical conditions where necessary.

What has been particularly inspiring is that beneficiaries have come not only from different parts of Lagos but also from Benin, Awka, Enugu, and Owerri. This reminds us that disease knows no boundaries, and quality healthcare should be accessible to everyone, regardless of where they live.

Surgeries for the selected patients will commence this week, and beneficiaries will be contacted through the phone number previously used to reach them.

Tomorrow is the final day of the free screening, which ends at 4:00 p.m.

PENALTY FOR DRUG RELATED OFFENCES IN CHINA IS DEATH- ATIKU REMINDS TINUBU

Former Vice President of Nigeria and Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has described as a monumental own goal the Presidency's attempt to invoke China in attacking him, saying the comparison has only exposed President Bola Tinubu to even greater public scrutiny.

In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said it was ironic that while the Presidency has been busy parading the United States Government's routine reply to its diplomatic correspondence as though it were a love letter, a trophy and a certificate of innocence rolled into one, its spokesman carelessly introduced China into a conversation where the comparison immediately rebounds against his own principal.

"It takes a peculiar kind of unintelligence for a spokesman to set out to drag an opponent before a hypothetical Chinese court, only to end up dragging his own principal into the dock.

"Perhaps the spokesman did not realise that the maximum penalty under Chinese law for the most serious drug trafficking offences is death. Having chosen China as his benchmark, he unwittingly invited Nigerians to examine the very standard he thought would embarrass Atiku Abubakar.»

"The facts are neither complicated nor disputable. Atiku Abubakar has never been indicted or convicted by any court in Nigeria or anywhere else in the world for corruption, narcotics offences or, indeed, any criminal offence whatsoever. That is an incontrovertible matter of public record.

"If, however, the Presidency insists that China is now the standard by which public accountability should be measured, Nigerians are equally entitled to ask what the Chinese authorities would have done in a case involving $460,000 forfeited to the United States Government in a civil forfeiture proceeding concerning funds alleged to be connected to narcotics trafficking and money laundering.

"China is renowned for its uncompromising approach to narcotics-related offences and public accountability. It is not a jurisdiction where the forfeiture of suspicious proceeds ordinarily marks the end of official scrutiny. More often than not, that is where scrutiny begins.

"And since the Presidency has elected to make China the reference point, let us go a step further. The Tinubu administration should acquaint itself with the Chinese criminal justice system's uncompromising treatment of corruption, abuse of public office and the misappropriation of state resources.

"Not in China would a President sign into law a national budget immersed in scandals, padding and duplicitous appropriations. Not in China would a President look the other way while a senior presidential aide faces grave allegations of creating a fake government agency. Not in China would a government campaign on Renewed Hope only to deliver renewed hardship to its citizens. These are precisely the reasons the Presidency should have been more circumspect before invoking China.

"That is precisely why the Presidency's argument has collapsed under the weight of its own contradiction. By invoking China, its spokesman has unwittingly invited Nigerians to apply the very standard he thought would embarrass Atiku Abubakar.

"Indeed, President Tinubu may wish to reflect on whether a spokesman who so casually drags his own principal into such an avoidable comparison has truly served his interests. A media adviser is employed to protect his principal from political landmines, not to march him straight into one.

"The Presidency should also stop brandishing the United States Government's reply to its diplomatic correspondence
